3-year PhD student in Veterinary Medicine / Biology / Palaeontology


The Clinic for Zoo Animals, Exotic Pets and Wildlife of the Vetsuisse Faculty, University of Zurich offers a fulltime position (starting in October 2016 or as agreed)3-year PhD student in Veterinary Medicine / Biology / Palaeontology on the mechanistic causes and consequences of tooth wear.

For the position, a completed veterinary /or biology /or palaeontology education is required. The successful candidate will perform a long-term feeding experiment in sheep, which will not only include participation in animal husbandry but also visual imaging and dental casts, techniques in nutritional and dental wear analyses, statistical evaluations as well as the use of literature and publication activity in the English language, as part of a team investigating tooth wear.
Salaries are according to standards of the Swiss National Science Foundation. Own motorised transport is an advantage.
