The fellowship is part of the project "MICRO - Human Bodily Micromotion in Music Perception and Interaction" funded by the Research Council of Norway. The project will investigate how music influences what we might call "micromotion", the smallest controllable and perceivable human body motion. Central to the project is a series of observation studies and lab experiments on people's spontaneous motion to music. The project will also focus on the development of interactive music systems based on human micromotion. It is therefore preferable that applicants have knowledge and skills in one or more of the following: music cognition, motion capture, statistics of time-series, machine learning, interactive computer music.<br />
The appointed candidate will be granted full access to the world-class fourMs lab, with state-of-the-art motion capture systems and sound spatalisation facilities (<a href="http://fourms.uio.no/" style="color: #0b5a9d; text-decoration: none;">http://fourms.uio.no</a>). It is expected that the candidate will work on an independent sub-project and be supervised by Associate Professor Alexander Refsum Jensenius (<a href="http://people.uio.no/alexanje/" style="color: #0b5a9d; text-decoration: none;">http://people.uio.no/alexanje/</a>). A postdoctoral researcher will also be recruited to the project.<br />
The selected doctoral fellow will be required to participate in the researcher training program of the Faculty of Humanities and complete a PhD dissertation that is commensurate with the University of Oslo’s requirements for the degree (see the regulations for the Faculty of Humanities’ researcher training program). The doctoral fellow is expected to engage in designated research activities on a 100 percent basis, including active participation in the main project’s broader research activities. The primary aim of the fellowship is to complete a doctoral dissertation to be defended at a public defense for the PhD degree.<br />

The appointment is for three years. All PhD Candidates who submit their doctoral dissertation for assessment with a written recommendation from their supervisor within 3 years or 3 ½ years after the start of their PhD position, will be offered, respectively, a 12 or 6 month <a href="http://www.uio.no/for-ansatte/arbeidsstotte/fa/utdanning/hf/stipendiater/gjennomfoeringsstipend/completiongrant.html" style="color: #0b5a9d; text-decoration: none;">Completion Grant</a>.</div>
<strong>Qualifications</strong><br />
<ul>
<li>A master's degree in musicology, psychology, computer science, human movement science, or similarly related fields that offer a solid foundation for further research into the area of music-related body motion. The applicant is required to document that the degree corresponds to the profile for the post. The final degree needs to be confirmed by the time of appointment.</li>
<li>Personal suitability and motivation for the position.</li>
</ul>

<li>The applicant's estimated academic and personal ability to complete the proposed project within the time frame</li>
<li>The applicant's ability to complete the research training</li>

</ul>
Applicants who have recently graduated with excellent results may be given preference.<br />

The project description must present a feasible progress plan. It is expected that the applicant will be able to complete the project during the period of appointment</li>

<a href="http://www.newcastle.edu.au/research-and-innovation/centre/science-and-it/exercise-and-sport-science" style="color: #25589d;">The Exercise and Sport Science Research Group</a> at the University of Newcastle, Australia, in collaboration with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and La Trobe University, are pleased to offer a fully funded PhD scholarship for an outstanding student to study the biomechanical factors associated with patellar tendinopathy in basketball players. This University of Newcastle Research PhD scholarship is part of a research project supported by the <a href="https://ge2.brightidea.com/ct/d.bix?c=7D27E4BF-F482-4C71-B5BA-71C36AE86EE6" style="color: #25589d;">National Basketball Association and GE Healthcare</a>that will be conducted through the La Trobe Sport and Exercise Medicine Research Centre. Patellar tendinopathy is prevalent in young jumping athletes. The reason why some are severely compromised by patellar tendinopathy while others play with no pain despite substantial pathology and yet others have completely normal tendons is not understood. Extrinsic factors related to the loads placed on the tendon when playing may determine risk for tendon pathology and pain. This research project will investigate jump-landing biomechanics associated with patellar tendinopathy and the effect of fatigue in jump-landing biomechanics. This UON PhD Scholarship will be supervised by Dr Suzi Edwards (UON), Professor Darin Padua (UNC) and Dr Ebonie Rio (La Trobe). The successful candidate will be based at The University of Newcastle (Ourimbah campus, 1 hour north of Sydney, Australia) fulltime as part of the multi-disciplinary team.</div>

The calls for applications alternate each year between the humanities and social sciences and the life and natural sciences and are announced in mid-July. Regarding equality standards, the Guidelines refer to the <span class="link-external" style="background: url("https://www.uni-marburg.de/link_icon.png") 100% 60% no-repeat transparent; padding: 1px 15px 1px 0px;"><a href="http://www.dfg.de/formulare/2_22/2_22.pdf" style="background-color: transparent; color: #006093; text-decoration: none;" target="_blank">DFG-"Verwendungsrichtlinien Graduiertenkollegs mit guter wissenschaftlicher Praxis"</a></span> (DFG's "Usage guidelines for Research Training Groups with instructions for the final report and regulations governing good scientific practice"). The scholarships are awarded for a maximum of three years. To promote equal opportunity, scholarship recipients with one or more children under 12 years of age can extend the scholarship and/or receive an additional childcare allowance. In the event of special personal circumstances (for example, disability or severe illness of the scholarship recipient, family members in need of special medical care, and similar circumstances), approval can be granted for a reduction of the original scholarship amount by as much as 50% and the scholarship extended accordingly. The support amount is currently 1,000 EUR per month plus material costs amounting to 103 EUR and, where applicable, a child allowance of 400 EUR for the first child and 100 EUR for each additional child.</div>

<tr><td><b><u>Purpose</u></b><br />
<strong><em>The Global Leaders Fellowship is for incoming graduate students (master's and doctoral) at the George Washington University</em></strong> who will return to their countries of origin to apply skills learned through their formal education at the GW. The fellowship is intended for GW graduate students who will be future leaders in their fields in their home countries.<br />
<strong>This fellowship is for students who have not studied or worked in the U.S. or other countries aside from their home country.</strong><br />
<strong>Current GW graduate students are not eligible for this fellowship.</strong><br />
<b><u>Award</u></b><br />
Three Global Leaders Fellowships, which will cover up to 18 credit hours will be awarded for 2016-17. The grantee is to provide funds from other sources for books, living, and other expenses, and must provide certification of this support. A Fellowship is renewable each year for a cumulative maximum of three years for Master's candidates and up to five years for doctoral candidates. A grantee must submit renewal materials for the Fellowship each year; renewal is contingent upon the grantee's grades (GPA of 3.0 or better). The Fellowship is valid for one degree only. Fellowships apply to the fall and spring semesters. Awards for the summer sessions are by petition only and subject to available funding.<br />

Fellowships are awarded to highly qualified incoming GW full-time graduate degree program seeking students who have gained admission to the University and whose program is on the main Foggy Bottom Campus. Students need to apply for admission separately through the online process. No Fellowship applicants will be considered who have not completed the admissions application, including payment of their application fee. <em><strong>Fellows may hold a F-1 visa (other visas are not eligible. J-1 visas are eligible for Fulbright applicants only).</strong></em> As part of the admissions process, applicants must have passed the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 600 on the paper-based exam or 100 on the internet based exam, or an IELTS overall band score of 7.5 (with no individual band below 6.0).<br />

The aim of the MSP is to contribute to the democratic transition in the participating countries. The programme also helps build capacity within organisations by enabling employees to take part in short courses in various fields of study.</div>

The MSP offers around 140 short course scholarships a year to professionals from 10 countries in the MENA region.</div>

Scholarship recipients will need to maintain satisfactory academic progress. Failure to do so may result in the Scholarship being terminated.</div>

<strong>Information for Current Honours and Master by research students</strong><br />Students currently enrolled in their qualifying Honours or Master by research degree must ensure that their thesis is submitted in sufficient time * for an examination result to be available for the scholarship round.<br />* <em>Examiners take approximately 4 weeks to examine an Honours thesis and approximately 6 weeks to examine a Masters by research thesis, however, examination times may vary.</em></div>

<strong>Documentation</strong><br />It is important to ensure your application includes as much information as possible together with the supporting documentation as following the closing date,<strong>additional</strong> documents cannot be added to an application.<br /><strong>Referee Reports</strong> - It is highly recommended that each applicant make arrangements for the provision of two (2) academic referee reports. Academic Referee Reports may be used in the assessment process of a scholarship application. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that referee reports are returned to the Research Scholarships Officer <strong>by the scholarship closing date</strong>.</div>

<strong>Documents in a language other than English</strong> It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that all documentation presented in a foreign language is also accompanied by an authorised English translation. Selection for a postgraduate research scholarship is based on academic merit and research capability within the University's research strengths.</div>

Successful applicants typically have first class honours or have completed a Master degree by research with additional research output such as research publications and/or successful research grant applications and research experience.</div>
