Postdoctoral Bid Writing Awards

Three postdoctoral bid writing awards worth £1,600 each are available to early career scholars within 12 months of the award of a doctorate and who do not yet hold a permanent academic job. Funding is for four weeks of writing time, to enable the candidate to work on a postdoctoral application to a funder/s of their choice, in an area of study that contributes to the research environment at the School of International Development where the postdoctoral fellowship will be held.  More information on research in the School can be found: http://www.uea.ac.uk/devresearch/home
Please note that awards are subject to tax and National Insurance deductions at source. 
Successful candidates will be supported by an appropriate member of staff, that has been identified by the applicant. Should the application be successful in attracting funding, the award holder will complete the funded research project with the School of International Development

Eligibility
Applicants must have been awarded a doctoral degree within the last twelve months, or in the process of submitting the final version of their PhD post-viva.

Application process
There are two deadlines to submit applications:
13:00, 1 August 2016
13:00, 1 January 2017

Criteria for assessing proposals are: Academic background and reference; Quality of research proposal; Fit with mentor and school research areas; Fit with funder’s priorities.
Applications should take the form of a short written proposal, following the template below. Every application must be accompanied by a 1-2 page CV, an academic reference from your dissertation supervisor (unless this is your proposed mentor), and information about the proposed funding opportunity. Only applications which include all the above-mentioned documentation will be considered.

Outcomes of application & taking up an Award
Applicants will be notified of the outcomes of their applications via email within two weeks of the application deadline.
